Ray Mears Lecture Tour location help please

Hello all and Happy New Year. I noticed on Uncle Ray's website that he is doing a lecture tour this year. I would like to attend one of the lectures but it will take some logistical work. The main reason being that I live in Canada. I am an airline pilot so the airfare isn't really a problem. I plan on flying over to England the morning of the lecture and flying home the next day or perhaps one day after that. What I need help with is locating the lecture that is closest to London Heathrow
(the airport I have to fly into) I didn't see a lecture in London but I imagine one if the lectures must be nearby. I know that you have great public transit in the UK so I am willing to travel to the most convenient venue. Having never been to the UK I don't know where that would be. I would really appreciate some ideas on what would be the easiest venue to attend. I'll link to the ad on Ray Mears' website so you can see the venues.
Who knows maybe I'll run into one of you and the first pint will be on me.

Woking and High Wycombe are the closest. Both journey times look to be around an hour from the airport.

Woking has a direct coach service from heathrow...... http://www.heathrowairport.com/tran...s-and-coaches/rail_air-buses#HeathrowtoWoking.
There will probably also be a bus service.

High Wycombe has a bus service...... http://www.londonbusroutes.net/times/A30_A40_740.htm

The trains and underground only go into London so not much use unless you decided on a further away venue and needed to catch connecting trains. Or of course if you fancied a trip to London.


This info is just from a bit of searching and a little knowledge. I don't think either place has a lot for an extended stay or is a particularly attractive place, but I don't really know either place much. Others may have have more knowledge and be able to advise further/differently.

Ray will be in Northampton apparently, that's about 70 miles North of London. Not the closest but not too far by train. Let me know if you do plan on coming over as I'm Canadian too. I'll arm wrestle you to see who buys the first pint...

Yep, Woking is a good bet. Might book tickets for the one too. I use to work round Woking area, very good connections to London and the south coast. If you are in to naval history Portsmouth isn't far buy train. That's where I grew up!

i live 5 minutes outside of woking. the train station is a 5 - 10 minute walk to the theatre where he's going to be. ive got my tickets already. wokings the closest venue to heathrow aswell
