The newest cold weather stuff will be expensive to buy as it contains a lot of food, I've seen too many trial versions to know what I'm eating these days, some of what I've had in the last few years still makes me gag as well, I don't like the sandwich thingies.
The puritabs have to be separate from the drink powder, the vitamins in the drinks would neutralise the chlorine and render it ineffective.
The lifesaver bottles are bulky, not easily cleaned and easily damaged, not soldier-proof. For expeditions (rafting, mountaineering, etc) we are issued Katadyn kit.
