Rare sighting.

I'm rather pleased to learn from someone with supreme knowledge that the bats I've been seeing in the woods are quite a rare species - Bechstein Bats.

Would love to say that I have pics, but that would be damned near impossible.

Anyhow, nice to know they're about.

Did you know that the German translation for Batman would be Heir Flitter mouse . Not so hard now is he :)

(The german spelling is Fledermaus but is pronounced as above)

I know.
I've noticed the bat boxes around but didn't know what was in them until I found out.
It seems that Dorset is one of the last strongholds for them.

Is this not an introduced species ?, there's no mention of them in my 'older' wildlife books. I had to google it, as I have never heard of them. Personally I think we're lucky to have any species of bat,I can't tell what sp. they are when they're flying around anyway.
