Just got back from crewing on the Buddhafield festivial. Took about a dozen birch spoon blanks with me to keep me out of trouble. They obviously didn't keep me busy enough - yeah, right - as I ran out and cut some more.
Here are the birch spoons, in no particular order.
Then I cut a bit of rowan, which was in a it of a state. Turned out it had been shot. When I first saw the shiny metal where I'd just cut I wasn't that happy, thinking it was a nail. But fortunately my spoon knife thought nothing of a few shotgun pellet. Of course, digging them out did change the shape of one of the bowls pretty radically. Anyway, here are the rowan spoons, along with a couple of holly ones I did on the same event.
I'm pretty pleased with some of them and even managed to produce some which would make decent eating spoons. Not generally a priority for me, but quite satisfying.
Cheers,
Leif
