Question about Antler

Hi All,

Have some deer antler that I want to use for some projects. It is very old and quite green in colour. What can I use to clean it with ?

Green usually means it has been left and it's gone and got mould or something growing on it. I've cleaned mine up by soaking it in bleach and water and then using a green brillo or toothbrush to scrub it clean, failing that just use very fine steel wool and it will come up like new!

I've found different grades of wet and dry work as well and can bring it up into a nice polished look.

Little tip if you/anyone wants to handle a knife with antler, if you soak it for approx ten days in water, leaving it submerged, the marrow goes soft and you can literaly push the tang of the knife in by hand, when it dry's the marrow goes hard again and locks it in place.
