Primitive Bow Troubles

So I wandered to the local hardware store and purchased 3 dowels and bound them with duct tape and as soon as I drew the bow, it promptly snapped in two.

Any of you fellows have succes with this article or know of a better one for an amateur craftsman?

You should try again with bamboo garden canes. Dowel is dry and nasty and possibly has all sorts of crossing grain.

I'd make the bundle a bit bigger. From memeory my current bundle bow is

2x7ft
2x6ft
2x 5ft
2x3ft

I use jute string for tieing it all together. My duct tape bow fell to bits after rain and heat got to it.
