As a result of this thread I remembered making a survival kit and a "fountain pen" survival kit as a young boy. It was inspired by a book I was given back then which brought back fond memories. I couldn't find the book or remember the title but in a JR Hartley moment by the power of google and amazon I tracked down a cheap 2nd hand copy of "Survival for young people" by Anthony Greenbank which arrived yesterday and nostalgia abounds.
