I've inherited this James Dixon and Sons powder flask. Its graduated for 4/8, 5/8 and 6/8 dram. The powder loads are the same as a Colt pistol but the adapter is longer and narrower than the pics I've seen. What gun might the flask be used with? A small rifle maybe? I'm also trying to work out its value as some go on ebay for £30 but others are much more.

Seem to have lost my googlefu on this!

Thanks,

Rob

Afraid I can't help with value etc but I love it! Nice and plain but looks really good quility , would be a nice addition to my Hawken rifle :)

I have a small flask i use anyway and pour into a powder measure rather than straight from a measure on the flask....hopefully someone will be along with some idea of value soon :)

Shame the charge is too small for your rifle. I've found out that its for a .31 or .36 calibre Colt revolver - still no idea on value!

I use the same measure for my 44 cap & ball pistol as I do for my 50 Hawken rifle. One charge for the pistol and multiple charge for the rifle; all from the same flask and meter.

Excellent result...wow, from what we thought was a £50-£60 flask turns into a nice little earner...what was so special compared to the others we saw go for much much mess if you dont mind me asking?
