I know this topic has come up several times in the past, so apologies for bringing it up again.

What are current good choices?

I bought one of these from Flecktarn a long while back but, although they do show a photo of an Osprey bottle in it, I found it to be such a tight fit ...

I actually gave that pouch away.

I found this online recently:

Looks like a small Welsh company. I quite like the way you can fold the top back and use the Y-shaped strapping to hold the bottle-neck, if you want. The small pockets on the side are a good idea, too.

However, it looks almost more than's needed for casual use and while it's seems a very reasonable price for what it is, it's a bit more than I'd prefer to pay.

Flecktarn did have something similar -- with the Y-shaped strap and a side-pocket. That was to fit the U.S. quart (946 miililitre) canteen, but they seem to have been out of stock of those for months.

Anything else anyone likes and can suggest?

I use one of these. The crusader cup & bottle fit in the main pouch. I typically carry in the front pocket:
honey pocket stove 2012, 5x esbit tablets, bic lighter, tea spoon, 5x coffee satchets, 1x cuppa coup, 1x hot choc, 1x sheet of water purifcation tabs. And some foil to act as a windshield for the stove / keep ash away from the inside of the pouch when stored. And a plastic lid for the crusader cup (a metal lid would fit but it would also add 200g
I sometimes wear it on my belt or use the (ALICE?) clips to attach to the outside of my rucksack. Its 600D and very tough.

Spooky! I was looking at these Y-shaped strap pouches last night for exactly the same and found these Condor MOLLE canteen pouches, which should do the job by the looks of it. Pouch in the pic holds a 58 pattern waterbottle in a crusader cup:
