We've all done it; spotted a good thing, maybe ?

Tonight's is Glover's Needles....those are triangular tipped, sharp and strong, meant for sewing leather. This set is size3, which is about 45mm /just shy of 2" long.
But, there's 1.5kg of them ??? for a bid of £10.80 + £3.38 p&p.

If they're good and they'd be used, it's a mega bargain......
:dunno:

Excellent price but value is debatable.

Unless you had some way of using them yourself, distribution for sale would be relatively costly.

One pack will almost certainly last me a lifetime.

Perhaps the seller has realised this.

It's one of those (if the needles are good) that's worth buying to split up at a Moot or other meet up.
Share them out kind of thing.

That type, and size, of needle is handy to have a few of in a hussif.....but even I won't use 1.5kg of them :D

In the size that you quote there must be around 4000 needles in there!!!
Our post scales are registering ten 45mm needles @ 3gm
In the John James catalogue (I am reliably informed) a glovers needle is tiny and there would be 10,000 plus needles in the bundle.

I have 'glover's' needles in sizes from 3/4 of an inch to 2 and a half long.

If it's really heavy leather then I find carpet sharps are better for me to use, but if I'm sewing finer leathers then the glovers ones are ideal.

It's a massive bundle, but no idea of the quality, or the condition, of those ones.

The description says they're mixed sizes so I'd have thought worth a punt? I'm half tempted myself, although don't have the time to move them on.

So far, whenever I've been tempted by a 'too good to be true' lot on ebay it has turned out to be fine and saved me.a lot of money. Quite a few people seem to be happy to move stuff on.

I found two really, really good mystery boxes.
One is craft stuff and the other is stationery.
Happy to recommend and supply links....didn't think about those since they're not really 'bushcraft'.

Well, the needles arrived today (thanks again Toddy). Approx 8,000 of the blighters and a nice mix of sizes, from 7 (3.5cm), 4, 3 to 1 (5 cm). They seem clean and sharp. I went for them as I needed some and a few packets of 10 seem to cost the same.

When I get time I'll package a few bundles of 50 or so up and post them out if anyone would be interested. It would also be good if I could post a larger batch to someone who could pass them on at a meet or something.

I am so pleased that this worked out well :)

Good needles are good things. Those say Made in England on the packaging too....so none of this bend like a pretzel, snap like a cracker dross, that is so prevalent today :D

Today's bargain ......

If you like making stuff, like opening a mystery box of stuff on a craft theme, happy to split stuff up and pass it along (I sent a lot to the Salvation Army shop and more to my weekly craft group, but I took out an enormous pile of good things, from scissors to beads to ribbons and knitting and crochet needles, even a desk pot in the shape of a huge thimble) then this is fun. No guarantee what you'll find inside, but it's like a present :)

When you get round to packaging I’d be interested - have not used glovers needles, though I know a few things I’d like to try.

What do you want in return?

Nothing, but the offer is appreciated.

For the price of a 2nd class letter I'm happy to send out a few packages at my expense.

If you send me an address I'll send some on. I'll not be able to do so for a few weeks so there's no rush.

Same for anyone else who wants some, I'll go through the tread and ask when I'm ready to send them out.
