Pop can stove insulated cover

A work mate of mine brought this in to show me after we were talking about pop can stoves.

Its a normal popcan stove in a tuna fish tin with fibre glass insulation around it. He said he can pick the complete unit with out burning his fingers.

I think using another tuna fish tin to work as a lid might be a good addition so not to get fibre glass in your kit.

Interesting idea

Is the insulation to keep the burner warmer so less priming needed or just so it can be picked up ?

Does that stove burn well with holes that size ? I've always used a 1mm drill bit for mine but I'd like to experiment with a few designs.

Think the insulation is for a bit of both. My mate brought 3 pop can stoves in, all slightly different. The one in the pics had the biggest holes. He said they all work but hasnt done any tests on them.

i like that a lot, think i might have to go and steal some insulation out of the loft and give that a try
