I cant find it using the search so can some kind person point me in the right direction if they know where it is

Many thanks

I boiled mine for hours, still wasn't tasy..........

I'm in the process of boiling some up and trying to do the amadou thing with it by beating if out. Will let you know how it turns out.

I have some of them dried and sliced thinly and it does work as an ember extender

Still not tasty tho...........

All you really need to do with polypore, is remove the bottom "foam" layer, by peeling it off and then slice the actual "meat" into thin slices and dry it out.

You can get polypore to take a flame, if you dry out a bracket whole or at least in a decent lump, then carefully saw through it, with a laplander saw or similar.

This will produce rough, fluffy sawdust, which can be lit with a ferrocium firesteel and will give flame or, once you've got an ember, you can blow it to flame.

you do not need to boil birch polypore, to prepare it.

you can of course, treat it with saltpetre, then it burns a bit like a match.
