Great looking axe. What did you use to polish it?

Various grit polishing discs, on a flexible back sander produces negligible heat. Followed by buffing with ashley isles green fine compound. Takes a while though. :)

Generally, polished axes are supposed to give better penetration when cutting. Gransfors don't offer the polishing service.

Others like Cegga do.

I just like a shiny axe....:)

Thanks. Im surprised its still here. Ive not seen a better example.
I have a few axes now, and have just ordered another one. Which Im sweating, as it weren't cheap, :yikes: so I need to recoup my costs.

I'm not sure that it aids penetration as a polished head, but the one thing it does do is remove all the rough scale. You ony have to work on a really sappy tree once with a rough head to know what an absolute pain it is to clean sticky resin off a rough surface!
