In Poland there is a place known as the Crooked Forest where the Beech trees have grown in a strange way.

Theories abound but what's yours?

The trees were pruned to leave only a single lateral branch which grew to become the apex leader over time.

Reminds me of some trees I saw on the N. coast of where the hillside slowly moves downward leaving a J shaped trunk. But these are way cooler!
