Actually one poem(?) which helped reinforce my misery when our old hound croaked was Kipling's Power of the dog

Well Laurel and Hardy and The Goon Show are my go to comfort humour "shows" so whilst I can appreciate more traditional poetry and the like, this existence can be a lot more tolerable with the likes of them over the likes of The Young British soldier by Kipling...
