I didn't know that Eric....

I've know doubt you are right, but I'd love to know the "why" of this....Must be something to do with the consistency I guess???

Did you know that cutting cheese with a knife is one of the fastest ways to blunt it? That's why cheese is traditionally cut with a wire.

Eric

didint know that ive always assumed its due to resistance as on large bits of cheese like a full round you would never push a blade through it even a thin ventalated one.

Mind you the processed Cheese (Cheese Possesed) in tins in Army ration packs has more grit in it than a Water stone makes you teeth itch in cheese n Apricot jam sangers

so a new Bushcraft Cutting tool required then a Cheese Wire :D ornate bone handles and a nice leather pouch

I have to admit at first glance this topic had me slightly concerned. Thought I may have to do without my ax for a few days.

But when I saw where the crack was I totally relaxed. Every quality ax I've ever looked at had the same crack. Some were much larger and all of the very old forge welded ones have a long split there. Never seen one come apart though.

Cegga,

:You_Rock_

Yeah, that's a good thing!

I've not seen this thread, so obviously had to go and look at mine. The crack on mine is so small I can't feel it when dragging a finger nail across it.

Thanks chaps for the honesty and customer service!!

Old thread this one . I must admit Id never noticed the crack before this thead came up a year or so back - still we all learn!

I've only just taken the title in as well.
However, I'm not going to check my axe - if its cracked I'm happy, if it isn't, I'm happy too!
Pointless worrying about something that will never happen.

If I remember correctly on one of the last runs there was an axe with a tiny little handle.................. any chance of one of those....... looks around checking swmbo is not looking. Hopefully they will come about when i have some spare cash. As I have missed every one of the group buys on these due to lack of funds. Other than the first and that was one week after i got my hands on a GB SFA, after telling swmbo that it would be the only axe i would ever need ......then the cegga came along.......story of my life :o

Guys, its unlikely we will do another group buy of these on BCUK. Tony and the mods have been really supportive but its easier just to sell them privately. The last few discussions on them prompted lots of heat that is not beneficial to the general "even keel" of the forum. Cegga can sell them all privately at a proper price without entering into endless debates on who should get them, what they should be sold for etc. I still bring the odd batch in for people who have tried them or mailed me, but its so much less painful to do it off the forum.

If you want one, by all means drop me a pm and when / if we do another UK batch Ill try to drop you a note - hoepfully we'll do a few more sometime
