simple, how do you take em off, or can you even? never had an axe with one on?

its a helko yankee hand axe with wooden handle, someone had pulled most of it off in the shop. was a bargain so didn't ask questions.

Is it stapled on? I have a stubi side axe that came with one and I just pulled it off think one leg of the staple snapped off though.

My Bahco had something similar. I just cut the loop off and filed it flush with the top of the eye.

I wouldn't be tempted to remove it completely ;)

Placky wedges are a bit like wooden ones, only made of plastic.;)

You can get plastic hammer/hatchet wedges on strips in France. Saw and bought some when over there. No issues I've seen yet.
