Does anyone have any nice pics of one of Ben Orfords woodlander knives as I can feel a change of cutting tool coming on ;) . Have only managed to find a handful of pics to tempt me so far! The handle shape looks to my eyes more user friendly than the AW woody.

Am I going to make a fool of myself and post some pictures I've found via google, for you
to then point out that you were after pictures that people took of their own Woodlander
knives ;)

Ah well, it's your own fault for being ambiguous in your post :nana:

You might already have seen this but this is a clear picture, from Woodsmoke's website:
http://www.woodsmoke.uk.com/p/v/Resources/Shop/

And this short film of him at work available from the BBC:

Click on "bushcraft tool maker" in the See also section.

I've asked someone on the forum who might have one to take a look here.

Can't put up a photo, but can attest to the quality. I have a 3mm campcraft in yew and a 2mm pixie in walnut. They come razor sharp, leather work is excellent and they are all round excellent & tactile tools. Ben is a top bloke

I've tried the woodlore style knife with the ridge going across the middle and really didn't get on with it. It didn't feel right in my hand at all.

The woodlander on the other hand felt 'just right' I actually got Ben to extend the handle a bitas I found the 'standard' (if there is such a thing!) knife too short for me. You can choose the wood you want, whether you want 3 or 4mm blade, the leather colour of the sheath (yes sheath not sheaf!!) and also the style of sheath i.e. neck, belt or hanging belt. Again I chose a slightly custom version of that with a hanging loop (which can be undone) and a strap hole for hanging if I want.

Ben is incredibly flexible with the choices you want. I'm fortunate in that I don't live too far away and so went to see him when I ordered it. I also got a load of axes and carving knives from him. His prices are a little higher than some, but in my view they are well worth it. Quality is 2nd to none. And no I'm not on commission!!

Excellent pics Mike. Good to see the comparison between the AW and woodlander. Looks like a much nicer handle style to get on with. Like the style of sheath on yours too Toby. Thing is I am a bit of a magpie when it comes to shiny sharp things so I have to weigh up wether or not I can bear to part with the AW! But then again christmas is comong soon so I guess I could treat myself to another knife. What's one more between friends ;) . Am going to brop Ben an email now.
