After looking at Waylands wonderful photos and some of the excellent pictures in the gallery how about a photo competition? Might be a bit of fun. :D I'm not sure about all the logistics as I assume it'll take up a lot of space with all the photos, but not being very IT inclined :( I don't know about these things. Tony would this be feesable? and would there be a possibility of a prize if all the entrants wished to chip in some how? of course the entries would have to be of a bushcraft nature or of flora and fauna etc. What does everyone think?

Wayland........ you're banned from this :lmao: (Just kidding)

Cool idea, will be fun! But only if Wayland get banned, thats true, he is too good! :D :D :D

Is a great idea!:D

Will take sone thinking though - ie how you can prove it was taken by you, who will judge (could we judge it ourselves using the 'rate the photo option?) etc

If it is hosted by BCUK - i guess it's over to Tony to sort the details as it could be rather 'byte hungry'!

i like the idea.. good excuse for me to get a new camera too (like i need one)

its Tonys call as to weather we use the gallery or not but if hes not in to the idea we can always host them else ware the gallery is ment for bushcrafty pics after all.

I think a vote by all members who wish to vote would be the best idea of deciding the winner(s)
As for people entering photos that arn't their's that would be up to them, but I genuinely believe this is a great community, with great people and would be very surprised if anyone would do that. It would be their conscience.

I aggree - but these things have to be mentioned at the start!

Personally i've found the peeps here to be nothing but the salt of the earth so can't see it being a problem!

And assumeing we get at least 12 entrants (and they are in agreement) we have the top 12 as the start of the calander we keep wondering about! ;)

Ahh, pipped at the post, I was going to announce a photo competition next week :D I've got a good idea for it and I've got a great prize of a GB axe signed by Mors himself!!

I'll put up more details later.

This might not work out quite how you guys were thinking but it's a competition and it's about photography.

I'll come back later when I've got a bit more time.

Cheers
Tone

Sounds like a great idea

Will give me even more excuses to play with my new camera

That was a bit silly owning up. We have another banned member to sit next to Wayland. :lmao:

Nah, that's the honesty and spirit that's typical for most (if not all) BCUK members :D

Sounds like a good idea to have a competition :D - I'm definately in (no hidden camera skills here though ;) )

Same here Ahjno, no special photographic expertise either. I've just got a Konica digital camara, but it does take good little snaps.

On one of the other forums I frequent now and again, they have a regular photography competition that works well. The format is that the previous winnner picks a theme (so it would need someone to start it off). A deadline is set and there are a few rules including photos must be no older than six months old (to encourage participants to take a photograph for the specific theme). As an example, themes I've seen were macro, landscapes, different aspect ratio, letters of the alphabet - anything you could think of; they coud also be bushcrafty themed if you like. The entries were judged by the previous winner and the top 3 posted with comments.

IMO the gallery lends itself ideally for this sort of thing and I think it would be good if entrants posted a link to their gallery entry and anyone who wants to vote votes. The scores on the closing date dictate the winner.

What do you folks think?

You could impose a limit to level the playing field:

disposable camera shoot out?

I've seen community style photo projects made up from frames off disposable cameras and they can be brilliant.
