Can't make the blades too long or they would turn into super scary swords and be even more dangerous

You could make the serial number Re---eeally small-thus avoid making the blades too long super thus avoiding them bnecoming super scary swords as used eg by Orcs...just an idea.

Just to clarify, you need 10k signatures to get a response from parliament or 100k to be considered for debate in parliament. However that is only on the government petition site. This is on change.org. This has only a campaigning action if it gets into wider public awareness and gains traction in the current affairs media. By quoting the petition the OP could be contributing towards this end.

Whatever your opinions on this petition it has no influence over parliament and zero chance of getting a debate in the HoC. If it worries you in any way perhaps the OP could ask for this thread ti be deleted so that there is one less reference to a petition that is utterly pointless and possibly harmful. Let's stop helping this perhaps?

I think the worm will turn before too long. The British people are getting restive with things regulating every bit of our lives...take ulez for instance.
(Not that I, or anyone else wants to get into that can of worms here!)
This country is a shadow off what it once was but like u said worms.

How about all the hobby-blacksmiths who can manufacture knives? They need to be registered also.
Put serial numbers on the face of their hammers (reversed obviously though) so every strike leaves the numbers on the blades.
They'll need non numered hammers for making other stuff or the Metropolitan police might get confuddled and do people for having a fixed blade shovel in the back of their car.
