Yes. It's a great book. Walking on the Land is another great book by him as is The Desperate People.

He went there. He did it. That's documented. How much of it was "enlarged" has been the subject of debate.
The best thing is to get over here and check it out for your selves.

Sounds good but most of the culture he describes no longer exists. And even if he embellished, the books are great reads as they are.

Great writer, his Farfarers, published as the Alban Quest in the UK, is an historical study of a possible. emphasise possible, progression of prehistoric walrus hunters from the Bay of Biscay to the far North. Well written and inspiring if you are interested in ancient voyaging. To say more would spoil some surprises but it is worth reading for yourselves.
