Anyone know what the weight of a parachute + all the lines etc is?

Toying with the idea of one for a shelter, but tbh my kit bag is a little over weight and if its heafty then i need to re-think things:confused:

Probably around 4-5kg when it's dry but you can double that if it's raining :)

The weight isn't so much an issue but the bulk is, the Irvin we use gets stuffed into a bag around 70-80L.

You could probably squash our pack down a bit more but you still wouldn't want to put it in your backpack :)

Chutes are a basecamp / carcamp think from what I can gather. I am thinking of getting one and cutting it down to a more namageable size, which would give me lots of cloth left over for other projects. Endecots do them from £10 for ones with rips in, so I may get one of those & have a play some time, now that I am getting into sewing things.
