Pans for pancakes?

I am looking for a lightweight pan that I can make pancakes in when I'm camping/bothying. I will be used on a gas stove as well as an open fire.I have a cast iron one but it weighs a ton. Any suggestions?

A wee alu. blenny style pan ? Could use it with an egg poacher too.

Fred have you done a google for lightweight frying pan, there are loads which turn up from titanium to aluminium.

I`d give you some links to look at but I`m at work and all the outdoor gear sites are blocked by our websense proxy server because some of them contain the word "weapons"

Go to your cheapest irn mongers and buy a small lightweight frying pan with a non stick interior, remove the handle and there u go. Light, very cheap-less than a fiver and great for fry ups and pan cakes!

Got mine from morrisons very cheap and a real good pan as the handle unscrews making it easy to pack away

Could you use a metal balti dish, which has handles? I've got a very cheap one,
although I've never tried it directly on a fire.

Amusing product seen recently is the Batter Blaster.

The only time I think it would be of any use is on a camping trip.

Cheapy omellette pan might be the answer, small enough to pack and light enough to be practical?
As others have said supermarkets, retail outlets, or hardware shops.

I would imagine any old nonstick frying pan would be ok. There are some you can get that are even ok to use with metal utensils now.

Not that camping isn't an ideal venue for testing your pancake flipping action

I have a Primus Litech pan with folding handle - quite a few of my friends use one too.

Fantastic bit of kit!

I've used it directly on the fire a lot too.

I got a cheap non stick frying pan from Tesco, £3.99, handle screws off, it would do fine
