What is the best paint to use if you want to paint or detail your Bergan in someway?

I've got an OD Vulcan and am planning some travelling , I'd like to de-militarize its general outlook with paint Imagery and make it a little more 'me' and friendly.
Looking for bright durable paints or pens to use to achieve this.

Any artsy people have any ideas please?

We used spray on (through stencils, which are dead easy to make and use) car paint on canvas to great effect. Lasts for years and since the colours are supposed to be UV stabilised it didn't even fade on the tarps over the boats.
Don't know if that's the sort of thing you mean for your bergan though….do you want fine hand painting fabric paints ? because to be perfectly honest the fabric pens are brilliant. They need to be ironed to set them though (as do most of the fabric paints).

Thanks Toddy , I'll take a look at the fabric Pens as I want something a little more detailed than stencils may be capable of producing I feel.

You can get very bright "Duck" brand tape
http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/brand/duck-tape

you can get Yellow and Orange Dayglo duct tape from Maplin.
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/gaffer-hi...dl?cmpid=ppc&gclid=CL-c4MmDsNICFSsW0wodswkD-A

You could also try sewing or glueing on garish (but cool) fabric badges, (military aren't allowed to add bright colours) you can add what you like.

another idea is beads, bright shoelaces, if you go to a sewing shop, you will find various cord fabric, tape and velcro, in various colours, so if you wanted to you could for example make all the utility straps on the bag red or blue.
Hope that helps :)

I wouldn't bother too much, if its just plain green its not exactly that much of a military look i'm sure they'll be plenty of people with plain green packs.

If it´s only to change the militarylook one can easily change cordage, change some straps, make new zip pulls etc. Some extra cordage is also handy to have so just wrap some on where it is possibly, I use reflextive paracord as it also makes me easier to see in darkness. I also allways in some way put reflextiv strips on any sack that I own.

To paint it just use carpaint and for small stuff just use a good airbrush or a fine ordinary brush.

I would have thought acrylic paints should do the job, after all they are used to paint on canvas. My brother has used acrylic paints to decorate any number of surfaces, both natural and unatural, though you may need a coat of varnish to weather proof it.
