Just testing my new knife :) It's almost as nice as decompressing in the peace and quiet.

Nice pics. Lovely knife indeed.

I just have a Bushtool so I'm getting into the scandi grind again, but I do find it is basically a wood cutting tool. I like a full flat or the long ignored hollow grind for more all round use like food prep.

I agree that the Scandi grind doesn't excel at slicing like a full flat, but I feel like it still handles food tasks easily enough! I carry a few knives when I'm out and a scandi wouldn't be my go to for everything. My main hunting knife is a convex Bark river bush seax and for small game I predominantly use an Esee izula 2.

Thanks! Yeah it's desert ironwood burl in case you're interested.

Damn , that's like rocking horse poop isn't it?
Desert Ironwood already is a beautiful and very rare wood, but finding a burl must be like finding gold.

Thanks for sharing , those are beautiful tools...

Out of interest , what axe is it? It looks like the GB sfa but the poll seems different ... And the markings are not GB either I don't think....
Care to expand on that one please sir?

Cheers

I guess so because they certainly charge enough! Yes the axe is a gransfors and initials are UN– Ulrik Nilsson. It's the hunters axe model and I've had it for about 7 or so years. Same dimensions as the sfa but as you say, the poll is rounded and the haft is also a different shape.

Incidentally it's also the axe that I buried in my knee cap resulting in 3 months off work and a new respect for a tool I've used all my life.

Aaah! Very good , thanks for that...
It makes sense now.
And hope you've made a full recovery after the axe incident...
