Opinel sheath and info request

Hi all,

A couple of quick request.

Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase a belt sheath for an Opinel No. 8 that has a firesteel holder on the side? I've been searching for a while now and can't find one anywhere . I'd like to have crack at making one but unfortunately I don't have the time or the equipment ( …… or patience ) . The ultimate would also incorporate a small sharpening stone holder (DC3 or similar) too but I think a firesteel holder is more achievable!

Also a while back I remember reading a thread about the different methods people have used to stop the Opinel handles swelling in the damp …….. I’ve searched and searched but for the life of me I can’t find it again! Can anyone who posted in the thread remember it’s title?

Any help much appreciated.

Your unlikly to come across a commercial pouch with a fs holder, Opinell do pouches for the knifes, adequate but nothing special tho, try there site.

They're a few individuals on this forum, e.g. Sing Tek (sure he won't mind me putting his name forward) who'll make you a superb pouch to your own spec.

this is on a neck string but it has a 1 1/2" belt loop too.

I have been after one of these for ages but have never seen them in the UK shops and everytime on Ebay I have been bid sniped.

I have seen Opinels with a sheath that held a sharpening steel, It was a few years back in Greece and the knives were stainless. It might be possible to adapt one of those to take a fire steel if you can still get them.
