In the Mountains
Nice mate,
what part of the south Wales are you in ? I used to do a lot of mountain biking in the south of Wales many years ago when I was more fit and not so scared of hurting myself. Its a beautiful part of the world and I have many good memories from there :)

I live outside of Aberdare now.

"Great location for a trip to the "Local Shop", but is it for "Local People" :D"

Well, yes really lol. The local Welsh couple who had it opened at 09:00, shut 12:00 till 13:00 for lunch then closed at 18:00 and opened 10:00 till 12:00 on Sunday. A very nice local Indian chap has it now and opens 07:30 till 21:30 every day of the year and he does a really good local trade because if he don't stock it...ask him and he will the next week :)

Its about a ten minute walk for me now. The first walk shows a modern culvert (early 1950's update from the original) carrying the local stream/river which opens up behind our houses as can be seen in the second picture and carries on down a more open culvert, all hand made with stone and not a bit of mortar used. Been there from @ 1780ish and still standing

If I was a 'survivalist' I'd be exploring the possibility of a small hydro-electric generating setup ;)
