On Monday I'm seeing a chap who is about to cut some trees (sycamore, beech, birch etc ) so I can show him what I would like, which is damned decent of him.
in the meantime the large beech log we scrounged has been dissected into more manageable pieces and have been having a play with the adze on some smaller pueces
Excuse the darkness of the pic. The adze cuts lovely, I have to fight a tendency to hack in as deep as it will go and just scoop small bits out. Also my accuracy needs lots of work.
to practice ice set up a ratty bit of beech on the bowl turning side of the lathe. I doubt anything worthwhile will come from it but I'm certainly getting a feel for turning and the necessity of relly sharp tools.
