We went for a bit of a wander today and took a few pictures.

I think that it's a bit late in the year for Elderflower!

A bit high for a step-over - but it shows how nature can come back from damage.

Again, blooming a bit too late in the year - this time a Rhododendron.

Nope, wasn't me. It's one of my bug-bears that people'll carry stuff into a tranquil area and ruin it when they can't be bothered to carry the remnants out.
No idea as to you're question about whether the can's a marker - I suppose it's a possibility. When I was a scout (20+ years ago) we used an old match box pinned to a fence post as a concealed marker to tell those who knew we'd be somewhere nearby. An open box = come on in, the doors unlocked & closed signified that we weren't in close proximity.

Bushcrafter (boy, I've got a lot to say!)
Looks like you had a nice walk.

I love looking for wierd shaped trees, but like you I hate nappy or beer can fruited trees. If I forage a big hoard of say bulrushes and don't want to walk around with them, i will stash them into a tree. I either use a marker like the psycho tree or stick something bright like a dandilion to end of the branch to find them to collect on the way home.

Hi xylaria.

A very nice walk thanks, we had another outing today with the purpose of foraging. We spent a nice couple of hours collecting Rose Hips, Elderberry, Sloe, Hawthorn and Blackberry.
