looks like ganoderma brackets to me. any idea what the tree was?

dont know couldent see much else left of it..

it is a veteran tree of either oak or ash - it is quite hard to tell... nice pic though! : )

could it be an elm? It looks about the right for a tree stricken by Dutch elm Disease, although it'd probably be sprouting suckers right enough...
