'Old' links not working?

I'm kind of new so maybe this has been told many times before but couldn't find any thing about this in this forum

When I am looking through the forum I see a lot of links to other thread's and posts and often those links aren't working. I get this message on a blank page:

The page you are trying to access does not exist.
Please select a page from the main menu.

Is there some reason or is it a bug?
