This is very interesting and exciting, but I find it a bit odd that the archeologist states that mesolithic hunter/gatherers had a 'need' for this. I understand peoples from the neolithic needing this, due to their newly established farming practices, but not so much hunter/gatherers.
It's kinda like two hunter /gatherers siting in a hunting blind in the highlands chatting: " Ach McTavish do ya see an wee reindeer coming utta that glen, their due any day now?" 'Hold on a minute will ya Alec, I'll check that calander in yonder field." Hmmm...not so much.
