oil be damnd!

ive just been given a gorgeous new puukko as a present, unfortunatly the handle seems to be extremely dry.

could anyone help me solve this

have considerd oil but am not sure which would be best, but if anyone has any better ideas id be glad to here them

I would give a gentle rub with some fine wire wool and then apply some coats of danish oil or tung oil or boiled linseed oil.

My personal preference is the danish oil though.

A good rubdownwith 000 wire wool soaked in Teak oil, followed by a full soak in the same oil followed by a warm rub down, using your hands heat, with a bees wax/teak oil mix has helped some of my dry wood items.

I started using WATCO Teak oil awhile back based on the suggestion of a knifemaker friend. His handles are always beautifully finished. Good stuff! Often I will finish up with a coat of Briwax.
