I actually thought the sit on top would be ideal, but the fact that you almost always have to wear a drysuit to use the damn things in this country, makes it very impractical.

mind you, I could have put up with that issue but not the movement restriction when sitting in it! That was the real killer for me. In a Canadian, I can move about as much as I like, even stand up if I feel the need.
The best the sit on top offered, was slipping over the side for a bit of a float!

I'll miss the easy speed of the sot mind you, it was amazingly quick (as well as very safe and stable) and to be honest, any fool could paddle a sot or kayak quite well, in a fairly short time ( I did:rolleyes:) Whereas; as we know, it takes a good while longer to get the hang of a Canadian canoe and single paddle! ( again; it did me anyway!;))

anyway, we really should try and get together for a paddle this year, once I've got a boat that is.
