I use a RITR notebook no.135 for a quick use note taking. I made a notebook holder for it to stick patches on.

For taking longer notes, courses and the like and transcribing my quick notes I use a RITR 370F-M in a Centreline Systems Everyday Organiser. They no longer do it but I'm a big fan. Theres a clear pocket at the back to put maps etc in if needed and a couple of pouches to stow pens etc. I've put a sheet of RITR paper in the clear pocket to act as a 'whiteboard'.
