Hi, new member here. I wild camp solo and have been wanting to introduce the family to the great outdoors but in something less formal than a camp site but not exactly a trek into the middle of the woods either with no facilities of any description. Do other family's attend this, do you think it might be suitable? Would you say these meets are suitable for a family with a 22 month old baby?

Hi MM and welcome to BCUK, we do have people who from time to time will bring some or all of their family. It is worth noting that North Wood is very much a wild woodland and is no way manicured to park standards as the photos over the years will show, this may prove challenging to the watchful parents of a 22 month old child! :) However we do have use of a grassed area on the edge of the wood for tents if this would be a better option. Alternatively you could always pop down for a day visit to see if it suits? No charge of course. :)

Hi and thanks

Yes I was looking at the grass area in the photo's as a camp spot, appreciate he will need close supervision in the woodland. How far from the car park is the meet as I would need to carry a large tent if we attend? The day visit sounds like an interesting option but I have been vocal about how great it is to wake up to the birds singing so would prefer an overnight stay if we attend ;)

Do we have any mosquito issues?

The distance from the car park to woodland site is about 100m, if you want to pitch on the grassed area on the edge of the wood, you park alongside your tent.

Mosquitoes like woodland and North Wood is no exception, September and the grassed area are in your favour though, they should have abated but bring adequate protection would be my advice. :)

Hi, thank you for the feedbak, this all sounds good and I would like to attend. I don't think we can commit in advance however, we will have to check the weather and make a decision the week of the event.
