Wonder if any of our Norwegian members could help me out? iv been learning norwegian for quite a while now and to help with my learning i listen to as much norsk radio as i can and try and get as many films as possible as the audio with subtitles works a treat.

some norske films i can remember off the top of my head... Trolljegeren, Elling, Dod Sno, Let the right one in, severed ways, flame & citron, max manus, ofelas, hodejegerne, svidd neger, sykt lykkelig, the thing (original and new version both have some norsk), en ganske snill mann.

anybody got any other good norwegian movies? stops me mumbling to myself all day :lmao:

also like my swedish or finnish movies 'rare exports' comes to mind as a favourite. however it just complicates things more!

Being Danish, i feel i should inform you that Flammen & Citronen is actually a Danish movie. My brother, who moved to Oslo did the editing on Sykt lykkelig. Unfortunately I am not into movies, so I am having a hard time recommending you some.

My recommendations, although not Norwegian, are:

Kunsten at græde i kor (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0495040/),
Idioterne (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0154421/)

Anything by Lars von Trier is ... at least worth a look. He is a very very disturbed man, and it is not all in Danish, but at least you know you have watched a movie and not wasted your time.

of course, i apologise! it has been a while since i watched it so couldnt quite remember. it is still an excellent film. thankyou for the links

It's also not a bad idea having a watch at English language films on DVD that have Norwegian subtitles, you can sometimes pick up good phrases that way

braw, do your family & friends get annoyed with you mumbling in norsk all day too? good idea about the norsk subs on english movies. the thing with norwegian movies is i think different dialects and things can make it pretty complicated whilst your trying tae match up the different meanings between whats heard and whats read
 
Nice project to be learning Norwegian. I've had an ongoing learning Swedish project for a few years, which plus having been to Norway a few times, means I can understand quite a lot of Norwegian.
As far as films go, have you seen Troll Hunter which someone posted on here a couple of months ago?...

The dialects idea is an interesting one although I'd prefer to get Bokmål in my head first before tackiling anything else. Again Youtube is worth having a look at for that one

Paul72: aye its bokmal im learning. i just meant its difficult using movies as an aid as i think some can be in diff dialects which throws me off but still good fun

Tor: You are of course correct, but there are some gems among the norwegian movie industry!

kukushka is a great movie i have seen it before but re-watched it today it has some great moments in it! Rare exports is my favourite finnish movie though :P

i will search for The Kautokeino Rebellion when im on a decent internet connection thanks!

"Ni liv" WWII, true story.
"Kill Buljo" A kill Bill parody. Absolutely hillarious.
All the Varg Veum-movies. Crime/drama.
"Veiviseren" Samii saga.
"Hurra for Andersen". Comedy from the seventies.
"Kjærighetens Kjøtere". Drama. Very good movie.
"Operasjon løvsprett" and "Operasjon Sjøsprøyt". Old comedies from the norwegian army in the '60-ies.

wow cheers mate! I have watched all the varg veum movies over and over again they are great and really help with my norsk. i haven't seen any of the others in your list will check them out thanks! :)
