Phew!, i'm so relieved to hear your outcome. I was starting to question how it all came about, but it's all come out in the wash (pun intended!)

I'm glad you got sorted out mate, Nikwax have never let me down before and you are the first person i have heard of who may have had a bad one, but at least that doesnt seem to be the case now, alls well that end's well!:D

Just had a quick look at the instructions for the Nikwax Cotton Proof and its 3 full caps (150ml) for 1 item and 4 full caps(200ml) for 2 items.I've used it lots of times and never measured it out accurately, saying that iv'e never had any problems. It comes in a 300ml bottle......so 1 item is about half a bottle ;)

Just a late post on this -
I found this thread just prior to Nikwaxing a Fjallraven jacket so was a bit apprehensive.
However, I went ahead and had zero problems.
I used Nikwax Techwash as per the instructions, and then while still wet in the machine I used Nikwax TX. Direct (waterproofing wash-in).
I experienced absolutely no problems or residue in the washing machine.
When dry I will be tackling the re-waxing of my jacket with Fjallraven's Greenland wax.

How about greenland wax. No washing required just a wipe on and iron in. Excellent proofing on cheap combats as well as fjallraven foresters, so ive put some on canvas bags, and the top of back and shoulders of a single layer Ventille smock to see how they work. No conection etc
It also costs about £5 for a block and seems to last forever.

Personally, I use Grangers. I have used Nikwax cotton proof in the past, and found that it's just ok. (I haven't tried Jedadih's method though) I understand that Nikwax is supposed to be more environmently friendly, but if you end up having to use a whole load of it to get the same proofing that a small amount of Grangers gives you, then I'm not sure that the environment thing is relivent anymore. Anyway, each to their own preference.
