Newbie hammock questions

One trick I have found that works well is to get a 'spirit level' app on your phone and check you've hung it horizontally by stepping back, holding the phone up, and checking the two ends. It's very easy on sloping terrain to pitch it looking level when it's not

Glad you had a good first night out. All it takes is a cold or uncomfortable one and it can put you right off. Here’s a bit more on string to divert water. It’s a lot simpler and cheaper than buying extra carabiners.

just wanted to say an extra thanks for all the advice. Just back from 3 nights at loch etive, the hammock was brilliant. No sore back or neck for me! I struggled to sleep but that's nothing new, but it was very comfortable. The dd underblanket was great and I really liked using the diamond shape tarp setup, worked really well even in some heavy rain. I used a prussik on each of the hammock straps to stop water drippage.

Just so nice not to feel battered after 3 nights wild camping
