I have no connection with them and I'm not going to buy one, I'm not trying to promote this knife or open up any debate on its merits or otherwise, but if anyone is interested, the Ray Mears 25th Anniversary knife will be on sale again from next week.

Just had this email from them.

Please note that in order to satisfy customer demand, Woodlore has made the decision that as from 11am on the 4th March 2008, our 25th Anniversary Knife will be available to pre-order for delivery during 2008.

We would like to point out that these knives will be supplied to Woodlore in small batches throughout 2008 and therefore delivery could take up to 9 months.

Allocation of knives and edition numbers will be based upon the order of purchase.

I imagine that their web site may go down at 11am on the 4th. :D

just think though by the time the 50th anniversary comes around they'll be worth quite a bit. ^_^

Holy rusting metal Batman! Tis but a babe in arms and being auction it off like that is just wrong. What's worse is of course that someone may buy it at that silly price.

Do you think they send you a photo at 20 weeks (like the ultrasound scan) maybe of a blade blank?

If so, can they tell you whether its male or female?

 I can just picture the erm picture now.. a small pocket knife slowly unfolding... :D

For someone who has wanted a Woodlore for as long as i can remember, this makes me pretty sad, the fact that folks just put their name down, get one and then sell on straight away for amounts that can only be described as ludicrous.

The not so funny thing is Nag is that i have seen these 25th anni's go for that price, this guy will have no problem selling this and he has made over £400 profit in the space of a week.

Hence why they do it. I'm half tempted to do so myself! I could use £400. The profit alone would buy me a top of the line stu mitchell to my own design.

Why worry? There are plenty of knives in the world every bit as good and better. If people want to pay over the odds - let them. Its a commodity market. But it doesn't prevent anyone else getting a knife every bit as good or better.

I daresay he has the justification of saying that you skip the waiting lists, or that the extra will cover his paypal and ebay listing fees:eek:.

I also like the added touch that he wants £9.95 to send this first class recorded, apart from the fact that this means that your lovely new limited edition woodlore anniversary knife is not insured (the insurance will only cover upto £35), it would also appear to be made of lead as a size 7 jiffy bag and postage upto the weight of 2.5Kgs only comes to £9.79.

As Red says good luck to him and pitty the fool that buys it.

BR, I might do the same. And I might see if I can get friends to do it also. £400 profit would get me to alaska for the trip of my dreams.
