My name is Terry and I live in South Tyneside where the river Tyne meets the sea and where the Great North Run ends. I was googling the optimum size of tarp to carry in my pack when out walking and stumbled in here. Three hours later, and I'm posting in this forum as the latest new member.
Born in rural Nottinghamshire, I spent my youth camping in the forest. Under canvas, amongst the trees is my happy place.
I spent 25 years as a seafarer, working my way up the ranks to Master Mariner and I've commanded four ships. I'm now retired from the sea and, at the age of 49, I teach meteorology to the next generation of young seafarers.
My outdoor life varies from family time in our caravan to lone wild camping in my single person tent..... and everything in between.
Looking forward to shooting the breeze with like-minded outdoor lovers.
