New Knife

  • Hey Guest, Early bird pricing on the Summer Moot (29th July - 10th August) available until April 6th, we'd love you to come. PLEASE CLICK HERE to early bird price and get more information.
Many years ago I made myself a Bowie style knife from scratch using an old power saw blade, hand ground on a large grinding wheel, and a mahogany handle made from some old furniture.

Unfortunately I no longer have the knife, and as I get more into bushcraft I would love to make myself another knife, but not a Bowie this time. I would also prefer to buy the blade this time as I don't have access to the workshop any more.

I have looked at lots of knives made by people here (very impressed) and would welcome any advice that you can offer.

My preference at the moment is for an Eklund Scandi 95 (http://www.brisa.fi/eklund.html) and an Amboina Burl handle (http://www.brisa.fi/amboina.html) possibly with some Buffalo disks.

Have any of you had experience of the Eklund?
What is Amboina like to work with?
Is there anything else I should know?

Thanks in advance.
