Have you ever skied on cross country skis? Or walked with snow shoes?

What is your experience of being in the boreal forest? Temperatures?

Overall experience of being in Nature?

I will create a new thread of what I was tought by my dad, the Same instructors, Same guys and by my own mistakes. Stuff I try to tech to my civilized, borderline metrosexual, townie son.

(Who is now in the Lofotens fishing and doing a bit of bushcrafting away from his worried and concerned dad!)

As it will be my own personal thoughts and ideas I hope the other 'arctic seasoned' members will chime in with their experiences and thoughts, and correct me as needed!

I will do it in the Bushcraft and Survival Skills sub forum

You have plenty of time to learn to stand and move on skis. Maybe you could do a week trip to a ski resort in Fenno Scandia this year? Rent a cabin, learn to ski cross countru. Learn to walk on snowshoes if you prefer that.
Learn how to dress for the cold, and also you can try out your equipment?
And still have a cabin to enjoy.
