new forest owl's

the wife and I were about in the new forest and I saw a couple of (what I think are) tawny owls. there were 3 of them, flying in the tops about 10m up in the tree's. Small, about 10-12 inches high, brown owls with small ear's.

I was very surprised to see them in the daytime - I presume they are a family group. they don't hunt like this do they?

Young Tawnys' will accompany parents for a while.Uncommon to be seen during daylight but lucky you to be in the right place at the right time.
