New Firesteels - hot off the lathe!

Got myself a lathe a few weeks ago and have spent a few afternoons getting the hang of it - just knocked these up yesterday and they have come out quite nicely.

Nice work fella

I got offered a lathe for free a few months back and had to turn in it down due to lack of space ;(
I could see myself geting locked away in the workshop for many hours churning out alsorts of round things.

Oooooh, like those! Looks like you're getting the hang of it.

My Grandad got hit in the face by a half done bowling pin once. Make sure everything is secure and stand to one side when you start up the machine. But yes, very theraputic when it all goes well.

Hope you have many happy hours turning big lumps of wood into small round things and lots of shavings.

They're cracking! I've got one of those beds you can use with a powerdrill, cheap but slow and tricky do anything more complex than this;

It's more sanding than actual turning, would love to get something better, what lathe did you get?

I got some firesteels off of this guy were OK once you get through a protective coating.

Cheers,

Alan
