Hello all,
Just got a new gortex army bivi bag. Is it best to treat these with anything before first use or are they OK as is?

If they need treating, what do you advise?

Many thanks in advance,

TT

If you bought it new, then no, it shouldn't need proofing for a while, and even once water stops beading on it, you will only really need to retreat it if you use it without a tarp (to maintain its beathability in rain)

One thing I dislike about Nikwax is the amount you get per bottle. How many bivi bags or large coats are you going to proof with a small bottle of that stuff? 2...3??

Sorry are you saying a "bottle" is too much or too little? It comes in a variety of sizes from single garment to 25L, you can often stock up on the single pouches by playing the nikwax web quiz!

Great, sounds like I can use straight out of the box. Many thanks for all your help.
