Andy if you decide to try them. I would be intersted to know how you get on as I work out of an office down the road in Haslingden.
I dont know what hes on about with the jock strap thing Chris , But when he went to the leather place I told him what he needed and said I would go halfs on some with him , an hour later he turns up at my house with the mold coverd very old piece of pink leather it was cheap though and ok for practice work , I think they did do normal veg tan but it wasnt any cheaper

lots and lots of leather, some veg tan but not loads, pleanty to suit vikingy and cowboy types folk, very cheep though, i bought some old stuff to practice on and yes it was pink, woth a look though,
