New favorite bread! Nettle and bacon loaf!!

100g Bacon
1/2 chopped onion
450g strong white flour
1tsp golden granulated sugar
1tsp Salt
1 x 7g yeast sachet
100g of roughly chopped young nettle tops
1tbsp rapeseed oil
150ml warm water
50g grated cheese

1. Fry bacon and onions and allow to cool. Then chop up the bacon.

2. Chuck everything except the cheese into a bowl. Mix then knead until smooth and springy pop into a bowl and cover with clingfilm and leave to prove.

3. Preheat the oven to 220 c

4. Once the dough has roughly doubled in size place onto a lightly oiled tray, add the cheese and turn the oven down to 200 then pop into the oven for 25-30minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapping the base.

Tastes awesome!!

I'll need to give that a try, I just scolded the nettles before I chopped them up.

Gary

Sorry - not a dig at your spelling ability - but that tickled me...
"Naughty nettles - if you do not behave in future, I will not just chop you up but I will scald you with boiling water first!"
I often wonder if some folk will misinterpret some dialect as well and try cooking bannock on their grannies foundation garments instead of a cast iron girdle! :)
You have to love the British languages :)
