At first thought it was perfect but as warned in this thread, http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=81877&highlight=where+can+I+get+a+smock ,it does appear to have a charcoal lining. I tried it on the other day and thought it was great but after taking it off noticed that my hair was virtually black (Im blonde so it really noticed), I was thinking about chucking it in a bath of water to try to give it a clean up, but Im not sure what will happen to the charcoal whether it will clump together or all come out. just wondered if anyone had any experience of these and how to clean them?

Or would I do better just to rip the lining out altogether?

Rip it out! If it's anything like the british one, washing won't do much other than loosen the charcoal lining a little more making it even more likely to come off on you.

You will likely be left with quite a thin garment afterwards though- possibly something you could sew a new lining into maybe?

I cut the lining out of an old british DPM NBC smock to use as the basis of a Ghillie suit- it is still surprisingly strong.

Thanks for the advice. Its quite roomy so may just rip the lining out and use to go over layers. It feels quite sturdy so hopefully it'll still be windproof after the linings gone.
