I am lucky enough to live within 30seconds walk of a lovely woodland, and after a morning of mopping up a flooded garage thought I would go for a bit of a walk with the camera to see what was about! (Food wise of course)
The "Dog Rose was out all over (Rosehips in the autumn)
[/IMG]
There was also an early emergance of what looked to be early stage puffballs (Good eating though I would leave them a day or two so a posative ID could be made) Poo for scale only!
the field was also full of bunnies
And their not to lucky relatives!
the hedgerow along the field was full of Burdock
And the lower scrub was a Greens delight (Bramble, Nettle and Cleavers)
In the mid layer bush I noticed next years Gin was doing well!
Elder flowers all over (Cordial at the Weekend)
The recent rains also brought out a couple of suprises!
Stink horn (Not edible at this stage, the "Egg" stage is though) This one really did stink, I smelt it befor I saw it
and Birch Bolete (I Think! Definatly one of the edible ones though)
Also found a ferel Gooseberry! (Must have walked passed this thousands of times and not noticed it)
And of course a crop of Pignuts (Had to get that in!)
That was just a few of the nibbles that where about!
Regards
Pignut
